Episode 12: Managing Expectations On Vacation

Listen Later

There’s a saying that goes, “Expectations are premeditated resentments.”

Do we tend to base our happiness on fulfilled expectations?

  • If left unfulfilled, are we resentful or angry?

  • Is there a good reason for our having the expectations we have?

  • You can only control yourself, so setting expectations for others and the world can result in disappointment and self-defeat.

  • Managing expectations is never easy, but add the stress of family vacation onto expectations and you can have a pressure cooker for meltdowns. This week the Dads share their experiences after wrapping up a vacation together. See how the ADHDads navigated the theme parks and managed groups mishaps, hunger fits, dehydration, and neurodivergent kids in the “happiest place on earth.” This is a lighthearted and fun episode where we explore our roles as dads, and we’ll have you laughing and relating to the ever complex nature of this thing we call fatherhood.
