Life is not always easy. We will all face trials of some sort. But God doesn’t send trials because He wants to watch us to struggle; rather, He allows trials so that we will know that our hope is in the Lord.

Henry Wadsworth Longfellow knew the weight of trials and grief. After losing his first wife in childbirth, God gave him a second wife and children. But one day she too died in a terrible accident. To top it off, the nation was in the midst of a Civil War, where his son was wounded and almost died.  

In was in this deepest of despair, Henry heard the ringing of the Church Bells at Midnight on Christmas day. It was in the sound of their voice that the darkness finally broke and He was reminded of the hope that Christ’s coming brings to every hurting heart.

This Christmas eve, God wants you to hear His bells of hope through Christ. Turn to Him and be reminded of the Hope that His coming brings.
