HIRE BASED ON QUALIFICATIONS, NOT DEGREES OR POLITICS

This episode of the Fearless Mindset Podcast is the first part of our conversation with Alexandra Rosner. Alexandra is currently an active-duty police officer and also works in the EP industry, part-time. Today, she shares difficult moments in her career which challenged her to stand up for herself.

Alexandra was discriminated against getting a job simply for not having a degree while Mark comments on the hiring of police officers today. Despite the budget cuts, departments must not let politics get in the way of getting qualified people in the ranks. Mark and Alexandra also comment on the increasing privatization of police and what the near future may look like for EP.

GOLDEN NUGGETS

A degree is not necessary and mindsets that it should change - Alexandra: "I've been committed to continuing my education. It's not in the traditional sense. I don't have those BAs or MAs to my name but it's not that I lack education or diligence or work ethic, it's not that at all."

"And it just saddens me, the experience that I had which we spoke about in that conversation regarding that degree. The takeaway really is that people are still thinking less of those of us who took a different path and that's what needs to change."

Politics gets in the way of hiring good police officers - Mark: "I see the game in recruiting. There's a lot of politics, but do you also value, and respect what our men and women in blue do in protecting our citizens on the streets of America? You're needed, and I know that the head counts are down low because of all the budget cuts being done. And I think they're reanalyzing the budgets and all that and going and going, oh shoot, maybe we did a bad idea of defunding the police because we need our law enforcement."
