Heating Up is Right! The first three tracks of this episode all on the candidate list of my nerd ass best of year tracking spreadsheet. Funky electronic, sick expertly arranged metal, and some world dancefloor banging, you can't beat that shit with a stick. Thus far we've seen a bump in flavorous electronic music, some good metal from that genre that keeps defying the rest of society, thank God for that.
On the practical side I lost my hookup for African and world music; I used to get the weekly playlist from WRIR in Virginia but the DJ who rocked that show passed away. I wanted to give his work and legacy a shout, he put many banging records in my collection and if anybody knows of great sources of world music reviews and/or spinning hit me up! It is a woefully underrepresented genre in 'Merka and this injustice must be addressed.
Excerpts from this episode:
upsammy & Valentina Magaletti: Superimposed
Bekor Qilish: Emptiness-Wrought Cognition
Rosa Pistola: Flauta Nahua
Slayyyter: Old Technology
Charif Magarbane & Ali: Kuda Arab
Star Moles: Real Magic
Feel free, (it's free!) to follow me on the on the shameful status toilet called Instagram where I conversate as themagic_organ. I got it friggin' goin' on over there, denouncing spectacle based American culture and serving up fresh bangers as I unearth them. Or brandish upon me 5 shits on the itunes, 5 starry shits on the itunes I dare not dream!!! Cough it up people. Or you can email me to say how I changed your life with all this great music. Music can be social, you can have opinions, the roar of the masses are not just farts as the Minutemen used to say.
I'm always open to listener suggested playlists if you feel you can hang with the host. I'll even co host the show with you and I will be super nice. I might even serve biscuits. C'mon take the bait!
You can find these artists on bandcamp and streaming outlets. You can support them by listening and telling your friends. You can tell other people about this concentrated blast of new music goodness, bursting with farm fresh flavor. You can celebrate what I do and what musicians do! Let this shitass 13 minute podcast be your guiding light. God forbid.
