Your Nightly Prayer 🙏🏾 Proverbs 19:11
The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.”
PROVERBS 19:11
DEVOTION
Based on Proverbs 19
This verse teaches that wisdom allows us to be patient and slow to anger. It’s easy to react when we feel wronged, but discretion—the ability to think carefully and act wisely—helps us pause, consider, and respond with grace instead of frustration.
Overlooking an offense is not a weakness; it’s a reflection of strength and godly character. Forgiving others and choosing peace honors God and brings glory to the one who shows restraint. Patience and forgiveness stand out as true virtues in a world quick to judge and react.
Take a moment tonight to reflect on how you handle offenses. Breathe out irritation, and breathe in God’s wisdom. Ask Him to help you respond with patience and grace, bringing glory to His name.
A.C.T.S. REFLECTION
ADORATION: Praise God for His patience and mercy toward you. Worship Him as the God who is slow to anger and rich in compassion.
CONFESSION: Reflect on moments when you’ve been quick to anger or struggled to forgive. Confess bitterness and ask for God’s help to walk in wisdom and grace.
THANKSGIVING: Thank God for His example of patience in your life. Express gratitude for the times He has helped you to overlook offenses and choose forgiveness.
SUPPLICATION: Father, help me to be slow to anger and quick to forgive. Teach me to reflect Your wisdom and love in how I handle conflict. Strengthen me to pass over offenses and bring peace into my relationships. Let my life honor You in patience and grace.
