I have had vivid and intense dreams since such a young age, could they all just be a coincidence? imagination running wild and nothing more to it? OR are dreams much more than we are told they are? 

I believe that dreams are messages, warnings, premonitions and remembering of past lives ect. Dream state is a divine connection and portal to many other realities.
