Possession is possibly the scariest concept in the paranormal world; the idea that a demonic entity can take control of your mind and body is enough to give anyone nightmares. Although cultures around the world have believed in the possibility of possession for thousands of years, it remains a highly controversial topic of debate in psychology, true crime, paranormal, and religious communities. In the 1970s, one of the most famous and well documented cases of possession ended in the tragic death of 23-year-old Anneliese Michel. To this day, the question remains: was Anneliese truly possessed by demons, or was she suffering from a misunderstood mental health crisis?
