In 1978, famous country star Bobby Mackey purchased an unassuming brick building in Wilder, Kentucky with plans to turn it into a successful country music bar. At the time, he knew nothing of its violent past, the effect it would have on his pregnant wife, or that it would come to be known as the most haunted nightclub in America. The building stands on the site of a former slaughterhouse, and the well in the basement may not only be a portal to hell, but the dumping place of a murdered woman’s decapitated head; buckle up, because that is just the beginning of the building’s dark and lengthy history.

Located on the Northwestern side of Mount Fuji on the island of Honshu in Japan sits 30 square kilometers (12 miles) of temperate broadleaf forest. The forest is hauntingly beautiful and a hotspot for tourists and locals alike, boasting some of the most gorgeous views of Mount Fuji and featuring several volcanic caves which can only be reached after a pleasant hike through the trees. Unfortunately, the beauty of Aokigahara is overshadowed by its reputation as one of the most prevalent suicide locations in the world, second only to the Golden Gate Bridge in San Francisco. Not only is the sea of trees surrounded in legend and Japanese mythology, but it is believed that the spirits of the hundreds who have taken their own lives there remained trapped in the dense and unforgiving woodland.

Happy Thanksgiving Whisperers! We're back to finally tell you about our experience at the Colorado Museum of Prisons, where we had our very first ghost hunt. We're also going to tell you the spooky history of the prison and share with you the stories of some of its most notorious prisoners. 

This episode is dedicated to the memory of the Club Q victims.

One of seven prisons in Canon City, Colorado, the Colorado Territorial Correctional Facility has housed thousands of prisoners since it opened when Colorado was still a territory on January 13th, 1871. At one point, Canon City had the highest per capita prison rate in the world, earning it the well-deserved nickname of "Prison City." Today, a towering stone wall topped with menacing curls of barbed wire separates the active prison, which is prepared to hold up to 930 inmates, and the Mediterranean-inspired building that has become the Colorado Museum of Prisons, which was once the Colorado Women's Correctional Institution.

The finale of our HalloWarrens Week celebration, our third and final post and episode, The Southend Werewolf has arrived! In the Summer of 1980, 11-year-old David Glatzel became possessed by a demon after suffering terrifying nightmares and visions of a horrific horned beast, who took a liking to an old rocking chair in the Glatzel home. He and his family would face months of life-altering torment at the hands of the demon, eventually receiving help from paranormal experts Ed and Lorraine Warren. The family would find some relief from the torture, but only after a tragic event that ended in murder when the demon released David and moved into the body of his sister’s fiancé, Arne Johnson.

Our story this week focuses on a world-renown haunted object that spent a significant amount of time in the Warrens Occult Museum before coming into the possession of famous paranormal investigator Zac Bagans. The origin of the chair and its true age and backstory is unknown; what we do know is that the Glatzel family obtained it sometime in the 1950s. It remained an ordinary piece of furniture in the Glatzel home until a demonic creature claimed it for his own. Many believe it was cursed by the devil himself.

Possession is possibly the scariest concept in the paranormal world; the idea that a demonic entity can take control of your mind and body is enough to give anyone nightmares. Although cultures around the world have believed in the possibility of possession for thousands of years, it remains a highly controversial topic of debate in psychology, true crime, paranormal, and religious communities. When you think of amusement parks, funnel cakes, roller coasters, Ferris Wheels, people dressed in costumes, and fond childhood memories probably come to mind. When an amusement park is being built, the goal is often to create an atmosphere of joy, where children can live out their dreams of eating too much junk food and catching an adrenaline rush on their favorite ride. Unfortunately, for one defunct amusement park in Princeton, West Virginia, the atmosphere is anything but joyful. Not only has the park witnessed the death of several children, but it was built on the site of the burial ground for the Native American Shawnee tribe, who called this land their home in the 1700s.

In 2003, a doll called “Harold” was listed on Ebay with a spooky and interesting backstory. He became a nationwide sensation. Those who come in contact with Harold claim to suffer intense headaches, debilitating back pain, and severe illness; it is even believed that he caused the deaths of two people. Some say that the doll is cursed, while others swear that multiple spirits are trapped inside of him. In 2004, Anthony Quinata, a psychic, author, and paranormal investigator, became the owner of Harold the Doll, and he has been determined to solve the mystery ever since.
