Located at 508 Second Street, in one of the most haunted towns in America, is the infamous Sallie House; well known since the 90s for the malevolent entity that lurks inside. The legend says that a six-year-old girl known simply as Sallie haunts this property, but many believe that she is only a mask for an evil and demonic presence who violently attacks men who enter the home. The hundreds of paranormal investigators who have visited the house over the last 30 years also suspect that there is a portal to the spirit realm located inside the Sallie House in Atchison, Kansas.

Deserted mental institutions, whether they quietly closed their doors or were chaotically and unexpectedly abandoned, are often considered some of the most haunted locations in the world. While society has made significant progress toward understanding mental health in the last century, many of these asylums operated under the unfortunate stigma and misunderstanding of mental illness, meaning that their patients were often administered inhumane treatments and lived under poor conditions. This lends to the idea that many who died in these facilities did not do so peacefully and continue to haunt these locations to this day. For this episode, we will be discussing two different mental health institutions, who’s troubled histories were vastly different from one another: the mysterious Gonjiam Psychiatric Hospital in Gyeonggi, South Korea, and the historic Mayday Hills Lunatic Asylum in Beechworth, Australia.

The stunningly beautiful islands of Hawaii are known for their rich history and culture. The natives of the islands have passed down the history as well as folklore of the sacred waters, mountains, and valleys for generations, and hold these spiritual tales of bravery and creation close to their hearts. One such place is the Nu’uanu Pali (pali=cliff) Lookout on Oahu, where it is believed that many souls, including those of gods and goddesses, keep a watchful eye over the island – and some of these stories, including that of the Night Marchers, are actually quite frightening.

It’s been more than a century since the infamous murder of Andrew and Abby Borden in Fall River, Massachusetts; and yet it remains one of the most well known and hotly debated murder cases in the history of the United States. To this day, people still sing the rhyme we all know: “Lizzie Borden took an axe, and gave her mother 40 whacks…”; but whether Lizzie Borden was the one who murdered her father and step-mother in cold blood is still a mystery. Many believe that the ghosts of Andrew and Abby roam the halls of what is now known as the Lizzie Borden House, waiting for justice to be done and the truth to come to light. Some even think that a dark, malevolent entity haunts the basement of the house, and maybe even Lizzie herself wanders the property at 230 Second Street.

The gothic medieval castle is considered one of the biggest and most impressive buildings in Eastern Europe. It is even rumored that Vlad the Impaler was kept prisoner here. 🧛

The infamous Catacombs of Paris, France lie just 65 feet under the streets of the most romantic city in the world. Originally 200 miles of subterranean limestone mines, these extremely morbid and blood chilling passageways were repurposed as a tomb for more than 6 million people in the late 1700s; more than 3x the population of Paris today. A sign over the main entrance reads, “Arrete! C’est ici l’empire de la mort“, or, “Stop! This is the empire of death.” It's believed that the tunnels are haunted not only by the spirits of millions of these bodies, but the souls of those who have gotten lost in the labyrinth of pathways and a maybe a few demonic creatures as well.

Welcome to episode 2! Our next location is The Clown Motel in Tonopah, Nevada. Situated next door to a cemetery from the town’s founding in 1900, this creepy motel features a collection of over 600 clown statues and clown themed rooms. Both Tonopah and the motel itself have seen enough history to explain its reported hauntings, including Charlie the Clown, who overlooks the lobby and who’s hands have been caught moving on camera twice. 🤡
