WELCOME to the WELLNESS FOURplay Podcast! Episode 13: Proactive Wellness, Part 2 - Mental Health We KNOW that Knowledge is the "foreplay" to your Wellness, so we want to make sure you are equipped to optimize yours!   Equipping you with the KNOWLEDGE you need to have the HEALTH you so desire!    Every episode, we ask FOUR questions, here they are: 1. WHAT ARE SOME QUESTIONS TO ASK YOURSELF WHEN EVALUATING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH? Here are 5 that we found: 1) How am I feeling today (mentally and physically)? 2) What’s taking up most of my headspace? (Is it positive or negative?) 3) When did I last eat a whole meal? (Nutrition is very important.) Low appetite can be a sign of depression. 4) Am I generally tired or have low energy? (Fatigue, overwhelm, worn out, etc.) 5) What am I willing to engage in today, that will bring me joy? (Am I willing to prioritize myself and set boundaries around things that bring me stress?)   2. DO YOU KNOW WHAT THE SIX BASIC HUMAN NEEDS ARE AND ARE THEY BEING MET? 1) Certainty: safe, secure, no change. 2) Uncertainty: Frequent changes, risk taker, willing to do new things. 3) Significance: recognition, be seen and/or heard 4) Connection/Love: Seeking close relationships, sacrifice for others. 5) Growth: move forward quickly. 6) Contribution: Living is giving (needs to start at home)   3. WHAT ARE SOME THINGS YOU CAN YOU DO TO BE PROACTIVE IN GUARDING YOUR MENTAL HEALTH? Be aware of what you see, hear, feel, think, say and DO, and filter what you let in. Set yourself up for a healthy day by getting the rest you need. Be aware of the stimulus you are engaging in (internal and external) Natural lighting, soft noise, cool space, fans, weighted blankets, comfortable bedding, pillows: cervical pillows, body pillows, etc.) You can find great sleep related products at https://mypillow.com/  Subconscious listening - use ONLY Positive material.  Be active during the day. Be understanding you will have bad days with your good days. Track your days and make sure you have more good days than bad. IF you see you are having more bad days than good, this may be a great indicator to seek outside help. Schedule YOU Time and Self-care time.   4. ARE YOU FOCUSING ON THE PROBLEM OR THE SOLUTION? What we focus on multiplies. Decide to approach your Mental Health by focusing on the Positive. Set small S.M.A.R.T. Goals to help you feel less overwhelm on the journey. S.M.A.R.T. Goals are: Specific, Measurable, Achievable, Relevant, Time-bound. CELEBRATE when you achieve your goals! This will embed the positive actions you are taking into an emotional response that will also release Happy Hormones!!   OUR GOAL...
