We use Sound Circles to teach the position of sounds. We create easy words like bed, hat, lid, with three circles, the vowel being a different color from the consonants. Then we build to 4 letter words, to five, and then two-syllable words. We use sound rectangles for one-syllable words and scoops for two or three-syllable words. Dyslexia – A Trait of Genius Forty percent of self-made millionaires in the United States are dyslexic. Thirty-five percent of entrepreneurs in the United States are dyslexic. Alexander Graham Bell, Steven Spielberg, Walt Disney, Henry Ford, and Leonardo Da Vinci all had Dyslexia. I am saddened when I see kids fail in school because of an empowering thing like reading because dyslexic children struggle with reading. I believe if an environment would embrace reading, we would open up a world of opportunity for dyslexic people.

Dr. Marianne Cintron is a Doctor of Education in Leadership and Administration, has two Masters Degrees and is a Dyslexia Specialist.
