Welcome to Daily Growth Point, I’m Pastor John Bingham.
If you have ever used a compass, you know that the needle on a compass is affected by magnetic attraction. It is pulled to constantly point in one direction. The result is a useful tool that helps us to navigate.
Yet, just as the compass needle is affected by magnetic attraction, so the Christian feels a pull by sin. This is illustrated by Israel’s desire to return to the comforts of Egypt (Numbers 11:5). OR Demas, the young man the Apostle Paul mentions are “having loved this present world, and is departed...” (2 Timothy 4:10).
Every Christian has two natures, the old flesh and the new Spirit. These constantly compete for supremacy in our lives. When the pull to sin drags on your heart, the Spirit of God also works to provide a way of escape so that we can be victorious.
