Οκτάπους or as it's known in modern Greek Χταπόδι is a combined word of two and as much as it sounds Latin, it isn't. Οκτώ (octo) meaning 'eight' and the ancient Greek word for 'foot' Πους( pus), so basically, a creature with eight legs. OCTOPUS
