Imagine receiving (what feels like) a heartfelt apology and finding out it was actually an attempt to manipulate you. Unfortunately, this happens all too often. As we talked about in our last episode an effective apology can repair and strengthen a relationship and an ineffective one can further erode and sometimes destroy it. In this episode we'll get into how an apology can actually be a manipulation that is doing further harm to everyone involved, ways you may be manipulating or being manipulated and how to recognize these manipulation tactics. We'll also provide you with some additional tips and considerations for making an effective apology.

Note: Murphy's Law was a principle (the actual phrasing is debated) coined by Edward A. Murphy Jr., an Air Force engineer working at Edwards Air Force Base in the late 1940s. The law's origins are linked to a specific incident where a technician wired a sensor backwards, rendering it useless.
