Listen to the circumstances she was fired under BTW...Carol Whitmire worked for WM for 18 years….May 2016 a bag of ice fell on her wrist...she went to the hospital...drug tested her...fired...Told them she had a script...for arthritis...they said “WE DON’T CARE!”....
Wal Mart claimed they had a right to fire her under the Drug Testing of Employees Act.
The judge told them that WM couldn’t prove that just because she had tested positive for the drug that she was indeed impaired at all.
First of all it’s pretty funny that Wal Mart does drug testing considering you would have to be high to want to work there.
Drug testing is an outdated and stupid form of workplace cruelty that doesn’t make us safer and only stops people who smoke pot less likely to apply for good jobs.
But Jon, what if someone causes an accident, and we need to see if it was caused due to them being impaired by a drug?
I’m not saying we should allow impaired people to work on forklifts and semi-trucks. But if you’re going to test someone to see if they are impaired DO that. Give them field sobriety tests administered by a 3rd party. How hard is that?
And it’s important to talk about this NOW because mark my words weed will be legalized FEDERALLY in the next few years...Marlboro owner Altria invests $1.8 billion in cannabis company Cronos
These were the people that kept cigarettes not only legal but available for 17 year olds.
