As a government of the people, by the people, and for the people, the ideal regime of a democracy is known as a polyarchy, where one of its main features is being highly inclusive and extensively open to public contestation. But how is contestation important to democracy and what are the forms? What is the correlation between contestation and inclusiveness? Where does the practice of patronage democracy come into play?
