Preparing for the Architect Registration Exam is a difficult undertaking. We need tools that will help us understand this process better and give us an edge on exam day. One of the best tools you can have is a better understanding of your Personality Type. Yup, it’s time to get to know YOU!
In this episode, we discuss the importance of understanding the DISC profile and your Personality Type. If you have a better understanding of your own DISC profile, you can better prepare for the ARE, as well as develop a game plan for when you are sitting in front of the computer on exam day. The DISC profile is based on four unique personality types. The four types are found in each person, however, two personality types will appear dominant in each person’s profile (typically). Remember, we are all a combination of all 4.
The D and I personality types are generally EXTROVERTED while the S and C are generally INTROVERTED.
D – Decisive. This is the driver personality type. The D personality loves new challenges.
High D – words to describe the HIGH D personality:
I – Interactive. This is the social interaction and positive personality type. The I loves interacting with people and generally outgoing and enthusiastic.
High I – words to describe the HIGH I personality:
S – Stabilizing. This is the rule following personality type. The S loves order and likes things to be put in their place. They also like things that are predictable.
High S – words to describe the HIGH S personality:
C – Cautious. This is the perfectionist personality type. This is also the personality type that is often saddled with “analysis paralysis”.
High C – words to describe the HIGH C personality:
Preparing for the Exam
In terms of preparing for the Exam, you should begin to recognize yourself below:
D – Dive into the material, tendency to plow through. Tendency to gloss over the details.
Taking the Exam
In terms of sitting in front of the computer on exam day:
D – Won’t become thrown off by tricky questions, however may not take the time to to select the correct answer. Also the type to have a tendency to rush through the exam.
