After a decade in Montreal, Andre Dawson tried to get away from the artificial turf that was turning his knees to glass. But the Expos, and Major League Baseball, tried to keep him from doing that, colluding to force him to return. So, 34 years ago this week, Dawson handed the Cubs a signed blank contract and put his fate in their hands.
