Thrive and Shine HR

Episode 2 - Forgiveness: The Undervalued Skill that Must be Practiced at Work (and at Home)

Listen Later

In our first "official" episode of Thrive and Shine HR, hosts Jen and Katherine delve into the significance of forgiveness. 🙏🏽

We start by defining forgiveness as a process of releasing past hurts and triggers, quoting Martin Luther King Jr. to emphasizing that forgiveness is an ongoing attitude rather than a one-time action. (did I just hear the mic drop 🎤)

It can liberate us from the power others hold over us, fostering our personal freedom and inner peace (for starters!).

Transitioning to forgiveness in the workplace, we talk about what forgiveness is NOT and how we see it show up in our workplaces. We discuss a poll that was conducted earlier in the week on both Facebook and LinkedIn, highlighting the greatest determent to a lack of forgiveness in our workplaces is around the "refusal to collaborate and/or a negative attitude while collaborating."

I don't know about your all but Katherine and Jen could talk for HOURS on how much we have seen the above show up in our own lives! 🤣

Drawing from personal anecdotes, both Katherine and Jen share our own success stories where forgiveness has led to positive outcomes, illustrating its transformative power.

Conversely, we both recount scenarios where a lack of forgiveness (for ourselves and/or towards others) hindered our ability to be effective in our and/or in our lives.

Through our storytelling, truth bombs and heart-to-heart vulnerability, Jen and Katherine wrap up this episode by discussing the tangible impact of forgiveness on our personal and professional relationships, advocating for its practice as an essential skill for women in HR to THRIVE and SHINE!
