Why is it so hard for women to not only ask for what they want, but ask for what they deserve? Today we are chatting with one of my favorite people, Professor Jo-Ellen from Santa Clara University. Jo-Ellen is an associate professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at the Leavey School of business. She taught me almost everything I know about negotiating and not only asking for what you want, but asking for what you deserve. We sit down and have an honest and frank conversation about just what it means to be a woman in the Silicon Valley, how to get what you want and how self-image can affect every aspect of your life.

Jo-Ellen Bio:

Jo-Ellen is an Associate Professor of Management and Entrepreneurship at Santa Clara University's Leavey School of Business. She graduated with a PhD in Management and Organizations from the Kellogg School of Management, Northwestern University and also holds an MBA from the Stern School of Business, New York University; a Masters in Economics from the School of Advanced International Studies, Johns Hopkins University; and a BSFS in International Economics from the School of Foreign Service, Georgetown University.

Her teaching focuses on Leadership and Organizational Behavior at the graduate and executive levels. Jo-Ellen regularly teach classes on Leading People and Strategic Business Negotiation for MBAs and executives.
