In this second episode of our podcast, we speak with youknowHD, a prominent radio and nightclub DJ in Charlotte. He tells us about his early interests in music at 11 years old and how that eventually inspired him to learn how to DJ and work in radio. He reminds us of some of the  struggles of the days before complete Serato  integration with tools such as Scratch Live. He shouts out some of the mentors and DJs he has learned from since starting  to work here in Charlotte and how they taught him the essence of storytelling and raising the energy in a room when talking on the mic.

We also discuss playing the music of cancelled artist such as R.Kelly and Diddy.  He tells us about what's it like to relocate and break into a new market as a DJ and how he had to put in a lot of ground work, often with no reward to get started. Likewise, he highlights similar challenges in breaking  into radio in Charlotte.

Looking to the future, he tells us about some of his current goals and milestones to start DJing overseas and potential for more parties to play Latin music and other international genres in Charlotte. We also talk about the future of music as a result of Tik-Tok.

He tells us about how he got started DJing at Cru every Tuesday by developing and maintaining good relationships with the owner. He also tells us about his experience DJing at Onyx nightclub, how he got started, what's it like working with and relating to the dancers and the differences between hosting in the strip club compared to the regular nightclub or bar.

Wrapping up, he tells us why he thinks it best to test new tracks  in the strip club vs in the regular club,  who some of his favorite local music artists are. and his plans for a future youknowDJs group.
