Season 2: Chinyelu Bessum Asher (born 20 May 1993) is a professional footballer who plays as a midfielder for AIK. Born in the United States, she has represented Jamaica internationally around the world and at the FIFA Womens World Cup. She started playing football at age 9, was taught how to play by her father, Kevin Asher, who is Jamaican. Asher ran track and cross country throughout high school, making repeated appearances to Nationals and Junior Olympics. Simultaneously, Asher played with Freestate United and would play in her school's boys' team during trainings.
Today she is a professional footballer of the highest standing, with a career spanning continents and countries all over the world. Her journey has come full circle as she is now the inspiration she says she didn't see growing up for millions of young girls around the world. So much more that X's and O's but also a great soccer mind, she explains how the best coaches work collaboratively with players in the modern game.
