This episode started out with my wanting to do something about gnomes, but as I let myself get sidetracked and swayed by the information, a new story emerged: Animism.
There's a revival of environmentalism as we see the destruction and aftermath of the Industrial Revolution. One way we might be able to reconnect with the Earth is by recognizing that we literally do it everyday -- through our devices.
Our modern technology is made from precious metals, rocks, and other elements from our planet and the easiest, most direct way to show appreciation for the planet (besides recycling, reusing, not littering) is to show direct appreciation for our devices and recognize the Earth's spirits that live inside them.
