In a moment of desperation, a group of friends brought a man sick of the palsy to Jesus. Instead of healing his palsy right away, Jesus declared: “Thy sins be forgiven thee.”

On hearing this, the Scribes retorted with, “Only God can forgive sins!”

We can agree with this truth because Isaiah says, “...I am he that blotteth out thy transgressions...and will not remember thy sins.”

David Garland said, “If God alone forgives sins and God alone heals diseases, … then Jesus is the incarnation of the words ... ‘I am the Lord, that healeth thee.’”

If we are to ever know the hope of eternal life, we need to know that Christ has forgiven us. J. Vernon McGee said, “We need forgiveness of our sins and He does forgive...because Christ paid the penalty for our sins!”
