In 2009, Peace Corps volunteer Kate Puzey was murdered after reporting the sexual assaults being committed by a teacher who had been hired by the Peace Corps. There were no protections for whistleblowers and Kate's report was shared with others which put her life in danger. Her family worked to get the Kate Puzey Act enacted to provide more protections for Peace Corps volunteers.
