Twins talk it Up Episode 23: Building Trust

In this episode of Twins Talk it Up, Danny and I welcome Matt Blake. Matt is the President of Blake Consulting and Sales Training. Matt is an incredible leader and supports business owners and professionals with training and coaching.

We asked Matt to define trust and to share about why this is such a critical component in determining the success of a leader. Trust goes both ways as executives and owners need to trust in their people as much as they hope and expect for their people to trust in them and in their leadership.

Organizational culture is reflected in the amount of autonomy and trust employees feel that they have to not only do their jobs but to support the overall growth of the company. More executives need to take an active interest in their people and understanding what makes them 'tick'? Executives should learn more about who their people are and actually listen to them. They need to ask how the company can help employees meet their personal goals? This is where trust begins.

Trust is reflected when people are not afraid to make decisions or make mistakes. Every mistake can be correctable. Matt said that if mistakes are not being made, then people aren't learning and growth is not taking place. Mentor, coach and stop 'managing' and watch trust turn into a great organizational culture.
