"I've been teaching for well over 20 years, going more towards 30, and I feel like I started teaching because of my childhood. So I do have foster care experiences, I've had trauma experiences, and it was the love of teachers that pulled me in, the ones who got me writing. Writing and reading became kind of my outlet, my best friend, my way of coping."
