Since the day a man hits puberty and realize the sexual gravitational  pull by women. Men have taken up their rifle ready for the hunt to catch as many prey (women)as they can mount and have war stories to tell the fellas. As young bucks those are the only accolade we use in the hierarchy of men in our teen years because financially everyone is pretty much broke. So one can not be judged bases oft their finances. So many take those same young teen years and believe the same principle apply outside of their high school doors, when in reality it means nothing. The rules of the games changes as you get older.
