The Sallie Ogden Show

Episode 24: The Price Isn't the Problem

Listen Later

In this episode, I tackle a topic I am genuinely passionate about: women making more money — and specifically, charging what their work is actually worth without flinching.

Here's what I see happen all the time. A woman quotes her price. The prospect doesn't move forward. And almost immediately, her brain goes to the same place: the price was too high. I should have charged less. So she lowers it for the next prospect. Or builds a smaller package. Or quietly stops sending proposals at that level.

In this episode, I make the case that the price is almost never the actual problem. The price is just the thing your nervous system wants to be the problem, because it's the easiest variable to change — and changing it lets you avoid the harder, scarier work underneath. We talk about what's really happening when a deal doesn't close, what to look at instead of your number, and how to stay in your worth even when a prospect walks away.

If you've been quietly lowering your prices, talking yourself out of charging what you know your work is worth, or feeling that flicker of doubt every time you send a proposal — this one is for you.

This episode originally aired on Hitting Rock Middle, the show that has since evolved into The Sallie Ogden Show.

About the show:

The Sallie Ogden Show is for the woman who's already built something — and is stuck at the plateau where the old playbook stops working. Tactical when you need a number. Honest when you need a mirror. Hosted by former lawyer turned consultant Sallie Ogden.
