The nation got excited about Kentucky’s primary election on June 23rd, and the women of That’s What We Said discuss what it’s been like for our state to take a rare moment in the spotlight... and not in a good way. From well meaning folks offering to drive basic supplies to Kentucky to celebrities weighing in on our absentee voting primary, from the influx of outside cash into our races to the history of Appalachian and southern stereotypes, we’re a little salty and not afraid to remind folks of the complexities of our state. This is the week that we yelled at movie stars on Twitter and complained about all the times we’ve heard the phrase “You’re so brave” [for living in Kentucky]. And you can look forward to a bonus episode containing an extended port ‘o potty discussion!
Note: This episode was recorded *before* the final results of the 2020 Senate primary in KY were available. We know now that Amy McGrath won a narrow victory over Charles Booker to face Mitch McConnell in November 2020.
