Welcome to Daily Growth Point, I’m Pastor John Bingham.
We often talk about “my” church. We mean well when we use the possessive pronoun, for we are indicating that this is the local body of believers that we belong to, give to, and participate in. But when we talk about “my” church, it doesn’t mean we own it. The Church belongs to Jesus.
Acts 20:28 says of the church, “...he hath purchased with his own blood.”
With His shed blood, Jesus bought us back from the destination of condemnation, and as such, we belong to Him.
Every genuine local body of believers belongs first and foremost to Christ, and my part is to point others to Him. I cannot claim “my” ministry, because it belongs to Him and as Colossians says, He is to be preeminent.
So, let us be faithful to deflect praise to Christ and point the Lost to the one to whom we belong.
