1. WHAT IS NUTRIGENOMICS? Nutrigenomics (nutrition + genomics) is the cutting-edge science that shows you how to create the best path for your health. Using plants and plant compounds to optimize the performance of your DNA.
2. HOW CAN NUTRIGENOMICS BENEFIT YOU? Utilizing the knowledge of Nutrigenomics, we can look beyond all the talk of nutrition fads and advertising that is everywhere. Nutrigenomics can give you a simplified roadmap of the specific nutrients and food that can influence our genes towards optimal health.
3. WHEN CHOOSING MY FOOD, WHAT SHOULD I BE AWARE OF? What benefits or problems can be associated with this food? GMO: Natural vs. modified i.e.: Virginia Tech splicing Rat genes in lettuce, Monsanto placing fish genes in tomatoes. Pesticides, Organic, Farm raised vs. wild caught, Caged vs. Free Range, Factory Farming vs. Pasture raised & grass fed cows and pigs, Home cooked vs. Fast food or preserved.
4. WHAT ARE EXAMPLES OF USING NUTRIGENOMICS? Certain genes can cause inflammation or help tame it. Food that turns off the inflammatory gene: onions, garlic, leeks, elderberries, capers, turmeric and radishes.
