Listen Later

In the 1990s when D.r Janki Shah began her medical training, only about 3 percent of women were cardiologists. Despite all of the challenges she faced along the way, she accomplished her dream and is now living in her true purpose. With heart disease being the number 1 cause of death for women, she has dedicated her career to bringing awareness and prevention to her patients at UCLA and to the community through The American Heart Association Go Red for Women initiative.

In this episode you will learn these “totally rad” tips:

  • How listening to your heart, following your dream, and never backing down, can lead to life satisfaction and overall happiness.
  • How heart disease is the number 1 cause of death for women and their symptoms present a little differently than men’s symptoms.
  • 80 percent of heart attacks can be prevented with education and action.
  • Go Red for Women, through the American Heart Association helps bring awareness and education to women regarding heart disease.
