Alexandra Garnier-Mercier is the Brain Bank Program Manager and resident government funding expert for the Alzheimer's & Dementia Resource Center. She explains the government assistance that is available to older adults, and why you start seeking out those programs as soon as possible (did someone say waitlist?).

Community Care for the Elderly Program
Florida HCE = Home Care for the Elderly Program
Florida ADI = Alzheimer’s Disease Initiative
ADLs = Activities of daily living. The tasks of everyday life. Basic ADLs include eating, dressing, getting into or out of a bed or chair, taking a bath or shower, and using the toilet.
IADLs = Instrumental activities of daily living, such as cleaning, cooking and transportation.
OAA = Older Americans Act
MCO = managed care organization
PDO - Participant Direction Option -- an option for the Florida SMMC LTC
