Episode 31: Abandonment and Apple Berry Pie

Have you ever felt abandoned? Yeah me too. It’s not a good feeling especially if it keeps happening. Today I dive into this deep topic and bake it out with some pie.


The crust recipe is simple and can be halved:


1 stick butter crisco shortening

3 cups flour

1 1/2 tsps salt

2/3 cup cold water


The filling I just diced up 3 apples and cooked over low heat with a frozen berry blend. I added about 1/2 cup sugar, about a tablespoon of lemon juice, a tsp of cinnamon and 2 tablespoons butter. To make the mixture come together I added a cornstarch/water slurry (maybe 1/4 cup of each) to the pot and slow cooked until it was reduced.


Crumb topping is just butter, flour, cinnamon and sugar blended.


Baked at 375 and it was yummy!
