As humans we love beginnings, they’re exciting, filled with dreams and possibilities; marriages, new houses, jobs… And we love good endings- a finished product, graduation, retirement…  they’re a sign of completion, arrival at out desired destination. But if we had the opportunity most of us would elect to skip the middle part. That messy, muddy middle part of our stories that aren’t perfectly curated, aesthetically pleasing, certainly not planned (at least by us!) The middle parts are sometimes filled with heartache, confusion, and seeing setbacks.

For the disciples, they were in the muddy middle of their lives- they loved the start with Jesus, and had eyes on the final destination, but it was there in the middle that they and we learn some of the most important lessons on faith, trust, and obedience.
