No matter where you are in life, thriving or struggling, addicted to drugs or religion, too confident in yourself or not confident enough in who Jesus has made you to be… The Gospel makes you new. 

In fact, here is what the depths of the Gospel give us as a New Humanity… 

1. A New Footing with God - “We are Justified”

2. A New Family with God - “We are Adopted”

3. A New Future with God - “We are Empowered”

Becoming new through faith is a beautiful thing, but in the first three chapters of Romans, Paul describes the broken state of “Old Humanity.” Old Humanity does not live justified, but condemned, does not value family but radical individualism, and does not have a future with God but only focuses on the here and now. 

Paul makes a case to not live like the Romans do. He writes this letter to help believers live in Rome without becoming “of Rome.” I believe as he writes to them, he is writing to us, to help us live in the world but not become “of the world.”

This week we unpacked this in a message called, “Rome: A Home Away From Home.”

This Sunday we concluded our series, “The 7 Hour Walk” by jumping into “Corner” as the Captivate cultural practice of taking our faith outside the church building and into the world, neighborhood, office, and relationships God has placed us in. 

If we’re honest, sharing Jesus with those outside the church can be a challenge. Sometimes we feel the pressure of needing to have the right answers or not wanting to hassle people with our faith. No one wants to feel like a salesman. But is that how Jesus shared the Gospel?

Have you ever wondered, “How would Jesus evangelize?” Well in Luke 24 the very first thing Jesus does after he defeats death through the resurrection is just that… He witnessed, and therefore showed us how to do it. He did not hassle anyone but rather he drew near to where people were, he cared about their pain, he walked more than he talked, and he didn’t force it. 

He went all the way with people. We unpacked this in a message called, “Witness Like Jesus Did”.

One thing the Bible makes clear is that we are never to test God. But there is one place in scripture that God boldly calls us to test Him! He says, “Test Me and see what I will do for the person that trust me in this area,” —generosity. God’s desire is to bless His people, that is abundantly clear, but He also desires to partner with us.

This Sunday is far from a guilt-filled money talk— we will discover that our unchanging, generous God doesn't want something from us, He wants something for us: a life where giving our time, talents, and treasure breaks the grip of materialism, puts Him first, and opens the floodgates of His promised blessings.

This Sunday we are in week three of our “The 7 Hour Walk” series looking at Contribute in a message titled, “Test God?!”

This week we continued our series “The 7 Hour Walk,” as we talked about how God wired us for divine connection as there’s a big difference between coming to a church building and connecting to the church family. 

The sad reality of church is it’s possible to come to church and still feel spiritually alone. It’s possible to be surrounded by people, but not truly be connected to people. It’s possible to be in close proximity to a spiritual family, but not experience intimacy with a spiritual family. And yet God never intended us to walk this life alone.

We jumped into Mark 2 as we study a story of a man who needed to get to Jesus, but could not get there on his own. His friends literally had to pick him up and carry him to the Savior. Sometimes life hits us so hard we feel unable to pick ourselves up and move forward. Often we know we need to get to God, His Word, prayer, church, etc. but it’s like we’re paralyzed.

The truth is we will all have seasons where we can’t walk physically, spiritually emotionally, or relationally and we will need others to walk us to Jesus. That’s Godly community. That’s Godly connection. That’s a Godly church. 

Tune into this week’s message called, “The Faith of The Four,” as we learn how we can take our next step together and truly CONNECT as God designed us to.

Last week we launched our new series, " The7 Hour Walk.” And this week we are answering the question—why church?

In a world that sees church as irrelevant or broken—and even among believers who treat it as a take what I need option or an unnecessary obligation—Scripture reminds us that church is where Jesus loves to be, in the midst of His people. It’s in church where we become the people we dream of becoming.

Whether you're faithfully showing up, sporadically attending, or questioning why you should bother at all, come discover (or rediscover) the joy and necessity of being part of the Bride He sacrificed for! May we all learn to say, ”I was glad when they said to me, 'Let us go to the house of the LORD!'" (Psalm 122:1).
