Episode 34; "How can someone's death be inspiring?"
Like many of our Community - Black and White the world over we will spend this week in mourning Chadwick Boseman as if we KNEW him but there are three things to also take note of about how he lived and died.
1) He was diagnosed in 2016 - before he made his landmark movie. He underwent treatments, surgery and continued to "cover up" his sickness. He never allowed it to "overtake" him.
2) Hollywood is a very particular community. If you let one hint of illness show, you run the risk of being "passed over for jobs", agents might leave, leading to divulging your secret, so you keep it hidden.
3) And finally you work until EVERYTHING is done that you can possibly afford to do. Had it not been for COVID-19, he may have continued his treatments and worked one last project, but it was not meant to be.
