Claire: sure, using a search engine is oneway, but you may not find what you want so easily. AOPA-China has done somework on it, which you may find it useful.

Nick: You may be surprised, but it was truethat I didn’t even know about GA airports until I came to AOPA-China. I thoughtthere were just two civil aviation airports in Beijing: Beijng CapitalInternational and Nanyuan Airport.

Claire: there was this quiz question in our 5 PMAviaiton Quiz, how many airports are there in Beijing? How many do you know?

Nick: now I know the answer. There are 7 excludingDaxing International Airport which will be open before end of September thisyear. They just finished their first calibration flight the day beforeyesterday.

Claire: and don’t forget the international airport ofCaptain Haitao. New aircraft were introduced to the fleet a few days ago.

Nick: Right. To make GA more known to the public andmake the information more accessible, AOPA-China has established a platform forthe GA airports in China. And the platform was activated on May 10thlast year. The website is ga.aopa.org.cn.

Claire;I found it the best way to improve and promote a platform is to getmore people to know about it and use it.

Nick: indeed. What kind of information are out there?

Claire: Not only can you find general information suchas the location, operator, contact person, but also information includingelevation, runway layout, runway length, runway width, navigation aids, and soon. You can even check if there are any hotels, restaurants or any otherentertainment places nearby.

Nick: we are in this data era. Everything is about data, and data brings value.

Claire: sure, 202 GA airports’ data are collected.

Nick: How is the data collected? Is it reliable andaccurate?

Claire: of course. We have a tank of liaisons from GAairport operators, who provide us with the information. They are the mostreliable source and will update the information as the airport develops.

Nick: many hands make work light. How will this platformbenefit the users?

Claire: easy. Information search is open to the public, other detailed service will be provided in the coming future. For theindividuals, we could provide the focal point, any airport you want to visit,we could arrange a meeting. If you want to experience flight, you will findwhere to go. Remember to ask AOPA-China to get a discount for you.

Nick: super, I went to Tianzihu airport the week beforelast, they provide skydiving service too, I noticed that information is on thewebsite.

Claire: for other entitieswho want to construct a newairport. The platform will show how many ga airport are in the region. A verygood reference to new airport planning consultation.

Nick: are there airport regulations and policies?

Claire: yes, we have that too. A list of regulations andpolicies on GA airport. It is a One stop service provider for all your GAinformation needs.

Nick: I heard we are working on this 2019 National GAairport information publication.

Claire: Yes, it is very exciting stuff. It will bepublished soon and detailed information will be published. If you want a copy, you can subscribe on our official website. We will put on the bookshelf ofamazon, Dangdang and JD.com in the future.

Nick: OK. Noted. Wait, I should tell Captain Haitao, toadd his international airport into our data base.

Claire: right.

Nick: general aviation in China is still in its infancy. But it seems it will grow up at an exciting pace. Hope everything will be ok.With all this streamlining policies, and government investment, and people’sdemand for more freedom in flying.
