Kim, who discusses his journey into the field of Counseling Psychology, happenstance and possibilities, and the importance of using research as a path towards liberation. Dr. Kim is a professor and the chair of the Division of Social Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences at The University Hilo. Dr. Kim's research focuses on multicultural counseling process and outcome, measurement of culture-specific constructs, counselor training, and immigrant experiences. Dr. Kim's work has led to over 90 publications and over 100 presentations. Dr. Kim's interest in cross-cultural psychology largely stems from his experiences growing up in Hawaiʻi as a 1.5-generation Asian American. Additionally, Dr. Kim serves as the Editor of The Counseling Psychologist , an Associate Editor of Measurement and Evaluation in Counseling and Development.
