On November 4, 1987, nine-year-old Frankie Barnes disappeared during a neighborhood bike ride in Providence, Rhode Island. His bicycle was discovered two weeks later, hidden near an abandoned brewery close to his home. Just a month after Frankie’s disappearance, six-year-old Jason Wolf vanished while retrieving the mail. His body was found a week later near Mashapaug Pond, showing signs of fatal head injuries. An anonymous note led police to discover Frankie’s body near Tongue Pond, and the investigation pointed to William Sarmento, a 21-year-old with a troubled past and known to the victims’ families, who soon became the primary suspect in both murders.
