The party springs into action to fight against the oozy menace as Shera yells out that the creature eats any organic matter, including the ship. While Fern takes several swipes in an attempt to make quick work of the ooze, chunks of the ooze fall back into the water and another mass of ooze can be seen funneling into a porthole on the lower deck. Odi quickly makes his way to the private quarters, where the creature entered, and casts a spell to save a man being absorbed by the ooze. Firn , Imarra , and Confidence stay on the top deck, while Odi, Ioanna , and Ferron fight from below, learning from Ferron that a bit of ignited gunpowder can be used to burn the ooze when slashing does nothing. By the time that the ooze is repelled from the top deck and finished off in the private quarters, but Confidence sounds the alarm of more trouble, the bits of ooze that Firn hacked off are now moving on their own and making their way up both sides of the boat. This time with a plan in place, the ooze is taken care of before it can attack any of the other crew on board. Shera claps and congratulates the group, before ordering the crew to apprehend you. Feeling betrayed, Firn rushes at Shera and a sleep spell is cast on her. While the group attempts wrestle control of the ship the ropes aboard the ship begin to move like snakes and the vessel lurches as Captain Atawolf steps out to quell the fighting. He invites the group to his private quarters to talk things over, citing that you have scared his poor crew enough. Atawolf interrogates the party to how a group of mostly humans, that was stranded in Lade, came to possess magic powers. He also wants to know what you know about his cargo. Odi starts sketching the map as quickly as he can in his notebook. The group deflects from the question successfully until a crewmember knocks at the door and enters, whispering to Atawolf something about "a small boat... Lotan Briney". He offers you an opportunity to prove one and for all that you are willing to act under loyalty to the ship. In the mean time Ioanna's familiar Tundi explores down in the hull and discovers the smell of copper... and acid. But isn't able to make out what the source is. Atawolf takes the group outside and shows you a small boat that the Erinyes has pulled up next to. He says that the crew of this boat are operating some illegal hunting practices, hunting whales out of season, and by hunting the whales they risk angering the Isoxu which could make any maritime work dangerous. Atawolf asks you to make your way to the other boat and investigate if they are indeed hunting whales, and if so to make an example out of them. Heading down to the smaller vessel which you find out is named Mila-ti's Bosom you meet the captain Fabrico who quickly spills information about their whaling practices after being charmed by Confidence. After much deliberation between the party, a choice is finally made to Fabrico that him and his crew can either become employed on the Erinyes , or he can lose his arm. Fabrico claims that as the captain of his ship he can not leave it, and Ioanna quickly tells Firn to cut off his arm which she does cleanly. Atawolf welcomes the group back aboard the Erinyes and heartily ensures your safety on the rest of the voyage. After a bit of rest, a commotion is heard on the top deck. You rush to check out what trouble has arisen to find an even larger vessel with immaculate woodwork and a green flag. An Aigrei(ethnicity:d386a7fc-c1b5-45fc-ac69-93d983579183) vessel. @[Captain Atawolf shouts up at an Elven man looking over the side of the vessel. "What can I do for you fine fairies?" "You are sailing within the Aigrei maritime territory, it is requested to let us board your ship to search the crew and contents." "You know as well as I there is no recognized territory in the bay " "Due to recent events we are under a high threat level and need to verify your vessel and banner" "Shape up chaps, these folk wish to make sure we're not a threat to their state. Show some manners."
