Did you ever wonder what the Bible means by the words, “Man shall not live on bread alone?” Everyone knows atheists and other non-believers in the God of the Bible aren’t exactly walking around pondering the depths of the Word of God. But what about believers? What about those who carry the name of God and call Him Lord and Master?
In his Gospel, Matthew the evangelist tells us the Lord quoted Moses' whole teaching in Deuteronomy 8 saying, "Man must not live on bread alone but on every word that comes from the mouth of God.” (Matthew 4:4) How much of a Christian's life is actually spent "living on every word that comes from the mouth of God?" And what happens to the man or woman who does decide to live on "every word that comes from the mouth of God?" What’s in it for them?
