Most of us can point to moments in life where we realized that the world doesn't actually revolve around us.

Maybe it was becoming a parent. Maybe it was getting married. Maybe it was caring for a friend in a difficult season. Whatever the circumstance, there's something both humbling and freeing about discovering that life is bigger than our own wants, preferences, and plans.

This week in Romans 15, Paul brings one of the major themes of his letter to a head.

In a culture that constantly tells us to put ourselves first, Paul points us to a different way of living—a life that isn't centered on self, but on loving, serving, encouraging, and building up others. It’s the life that Jesus modeled himself. And ironically, as we learned together, some of the greatest freedom in life is found when we stop trying to be the main character.
