When the world speeds up, our bodies brace. In this deeply grounding episode, somatic therapist and guide Briony Montgomery maps the nervous system through a trauma-informed, decolonised lens and shows why regulation isn’t compliance—it’s power. We explore how fight/flight/freeze/fawn show up in everyday life (snapping at kids, doom-scrolling at midnight, code-switching to feel safe, shutting down during hard conversations), and how to move from panic to presence without bypassing grief or rage.

You’ll learn:

  • The polyvagal map, made livable—ventral (connection), sympathetic (mobilisation) and dorsal (shutdown), and how we shift between them all day.
  • Functional freeze & collective trauma fatigue—why so many women feel numb, unseen, and “on” all the time, and how to thaw safely.
  • Sacred rage vs. dysregulated anger—how regulated rage becomes a boundary-building force for protection, clarity and culture-change.
  • Real-world regulation—simple, body-first cues (breath pacing, orienting, contact, consent, pausing) to respond instead of react.
  • Being unfuckwithable—not armoured or detached, but rooted: present, discerning, and unmovable in your values even when life is chaotic.

This is a nervous-system homecoming for women who are done performing “fine” and ready to reclaim sovereignty in their bodies, families, communities, and work.
