While you listen to the sizzle reel, think of what song you'd like in your life.  Here is the beginning of the script:

Hi I’m Lightning Lucas, and I got that name by being struck by lightning and surviving, and now I’m a musician who writes songs for a living and I also host a weekly musical podcast!  It’s called Hold That Note (visit Holdthatnote.net) Today I’m walking you through my sizzle reel of songs I’ve done for specific people or events and of course those I’ve done on commission as well.  Let’s dive in with a snippet from my 2018 classic ‘Hold The Hope.’

Here’s what Diane from Iowa had to say:

“I commissioned a song from Lucas as part of a project to create a training program for Peer Support Specialists. He listened carefully to the thoughts and ideas of our team and honored them in his creative process. He kept me apprised of his progress and met the required deadlines.  It was a pleasure to work with Lucas and we couldn't be more pleased with the end product.”

Here’s a quote from folk musician extraordinaire John McCutcheon.

He says: “Amidst the flood of new singer-songwriters out there, every once in a great while someone makes me stop and listen. I never miss a chance to hear another Lightning Lucas song. You shouldn’t either.”

Trent Wagler of The Steel Wheels had this to say:

“Lightning Lucas has an earnest heart that he puts into every song. He's equal parts quirky, funny, and poignant.”

Here's what Jake Cochran of Illiterate Light had to say:

“With a wit like the lightning in his name, Lucas always brightens my day. We’ve played together countless times and toured together by bicycle, but I keep coming back for the songs. I have my favorites, but more than anything I look forward to whatever he writes next.”

Here’s a quote from Dimitris Campos of Ears to the Ground Family:

“I think Lucas is spontaneous, creative, and witty.  He’s the hardest working songwriter in Harrisonburg.  His songs get to the heart of the theme that he’s writing about.”
