I want to begin by paying my respects to DJ legend Michael ‘5000’ Watts. I grew up on Swishahouse, and it felt only right to honor that legacy by featuring a few tracks from Mike Jones and Paul Wall in this week’s mix.  While my catalog for this episode isn’t as deep as I would’ve liked, I also included records from other artists across the Dirty South — songs that are over 20 years old and shaped my ears long before I ever stepped behind the decks.  This era of hip-hop had a major influence on how I approach DJing, so I let these tracks breathe instead of rushing through them in the usual quick-mix, mixtape style.
