“Lived Through That” is the companion podcast to my book where I look at influential musicians of the 80s and 90s and where they are today. On this podcast, we’ll delve deeper into a single pivotal moment in the lives of some of the artists I feature in that book, as well as other artists I love and admire. The stories they tell are open, honest, and inspiring.
This week, we’re venturing back to the 90s with Fergal Lawler from the massive band The Cranberries. They were all over the radio at the time with hits like “Linger” “Zombie” and “Dreams.” They’re probably the second biggest band from Ireland, after U2. After the devasting loss of singer Dolores O’Riordan in 2018, Fergal had to find the confidence to venture into a new way to express himself – moving into composing for film. Fergal also gets into the formation of The Cranberries, how they wrote and released "Zombie," and talks about a recent brush with death.
