Episode 6.7: Your Book Is a Conversation, Not a Lecture

Listen Later

Readers of your book need a conversation with you, the author. They need to know that you are in it with them, that you care about their questions and frustrations, and they want to know what would be the best solution for their situation. They need an understanding that the content is for them. One that makes them want to spend time reading and learning from it.

Join me as I explain how to structure your writing with a conversational style. Readers want to be talked to. They are busy doing important things in life, and lecturing them won't give you their attention. Check your writing tone; keep it conversational but an expert. Always remember a scene of you with a friend over a cup of coffee and how you will explain to them. That will help you not to use jargon and technical terms and clearly define and explain terms that need to be clarified.
