The Long Walk was one of Stephen King’s first books; and though the story may be simplistic, it took a long time before it was fully adapted to a movie. To be completely transparent, the movie takes place during the walk itself, so the change in scenery is never drastic but the bonds that grow among the young boys seems like as if its going to last a lifetime—though, we and they all know, only one will make it to the end.
MJ and Marva sat down to watch the movie and walked away understanding not just the hype, but the weight of the movie overall. The States is shown to be a dystopian society and the government provided this “opportunity” to the young men so they can demonstrate to the rest of the country how its like to beat the “epidemic” as the General called it: being lazy. The audience not only spectates the walk like the rest of the citizens, but understands and gets a first hand experience on how the ties are built through this gruesome, one-sided battle. Needless to say, King once again found a way to break everyone’s hearts, including your favorite horror duos, with another incredible story.
